The World interim featherweight title owner Javier Fortuna (21-0, 15 KOs) will probably fight Miguel Zamudio (25-1-1, 13 KOs) in an intriguing 12-round clash, with April 19th, 2013 on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights, the promoter Sampson Lewkowicz confirmed Wednesday. The ESPN-tv tripleheader entitled 'Javier Fortuna vs. Miguel Zamudio', presented by Sampson Boxing.
Although earlier reports had the fight going down in Fortuna's native Dominican Republic, Lewkowicz explained that he is still attempting to secure an area for the fight to happen. That venue will be in the Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA to be able to accomdate ESPN.
Javier Fortuna could make the first defense from the WBA interim title he won n December eighth over Patrick Hyland in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fortuna has qualified for previous fights together with Sergio Martinez in Port Hueneme, CA.
Hailing by Guasave, Sinaloa, Mexico, Zamudio earned an eight round split decision over Gilberto Bolanos with December 14th. He is unbeaten in his last 21 bouts in a row since being stopped inside second round by Adrian Young in December of '09. April 19th 2013 will mark the first time Zamudio will be fighting beyond Mexico.
